Sound Technology in Performance

Our performances combine many different musical aesthetics – incorporating acoustic ensembles, amplified groups, and combinations of instruments and electronics. We seek to provide the richest possible experience for an audience, both in terms of musical styles and electronic sound immersion.

David Ibbett is an electronics performer and practitioner of live-diffusion – the art of mixing electronic sound into a three dimensional space. Our concerts often employ a multichannel sound system of 8 channels or more, designed to surround the audience in the world of the music. David performs at the mixing console to create a live spatialization that is unique to every piece, every space, and every audience. We believe that this is an electro-acoustic experience unlike any other – a combination of live musicians and living electronic sound.

Our project began as a collaboration between pianist and composer, and so at the core of our repertoire are works for piano and electronics, performed by Sophia Subbayya Vastek and David Ibbett.   However, we bring in different ensembles for every event, spanning various genres and aesthetics.
